Hello Fusion Family, you have been missed!!

As posted yesterday the Carolina Region has suspended all activities, tournaments, etc. through May 31st. The USAV has not updated their notification since earlier communication stated closures till May 8. I am sure we will hear an update from them in the next few days. Fusion coaches and staff meet yesterday to discuss several questions regarding the remaining travel season, beach, etc. I wanted to touch base with each of you to let you know where the Club stands currently and what we are looking at over the next few months. Note that what we discussed and started to plan is all in a “hold” mode until each phase of reopening the state and surrounding counties is approved. At that time, we can then start to put our plans into motion.

It was a unanimous vote from all coaches and staff in attendance that at this point of the Region suspending all activities through May 31st that Fusion’s indoor 2019/2020 travel season is officially closed. The logistics at this point of the season would make it almost impossible to practice and travel. Even after the decision is made to resume activities, there will most likely be a phased approach and our training sites will still not be available for us to hold adequate team training and even finding tournaments to compete in would be a daunting task.

We now shift our attention to the remainder of the 2020 Beach season. We are hopeful that we will be able to begin beach training as soon as the suspension is lifted by the Carolina Region. There will be more details to come as we get closer to reopening. So, stay tuned to our website and Facebook page.

This now leads us to the question… How does Fusion fulfill our commitment to each of its members with at least one or more tournaments and 3 or more practices due each team from this travel season? There were several different scenarios that we considered and trying to find the one that would work best for Fusion members overall. Fusion has decided to hold several camps and/or clinics over the course of June and July (if the state and region have opened their guidelines) that will be open to all current Fusion players at no cost. This will help each player get back in the gym and on the court. Allowing them to begin working out and training, which will help to prepare many for their upcoming school and travel season. There will be much more information to come as the Region and State open and we know how we can proceed and what that will look like. There will be emails, website updates and Facebook communication sent out to everyone as soon as we have finalized the dates, locations, etc.

Fusion will also be holding a season end party that will include all teams, coaches and staff members. This will be a continuation of our 10-year anniversary celebration and include something special for our graduating seniors. When the state again allows a large group of people to gather, we will set the wheels in motion for a great day filled with lots of fun and surprises.

None of us were prepared for our volleyball season and lives to be interrupted so abruptly by the COVID-19. Fusion has never experienced anything like this in its history and we are learning together with other Clubs and Associations as we move through these uncharted waters. The outcome of our season is not ideal and the decisions we make over the next few weeks and months will not satisfy everyone within our Club family. We ask that you show patience, understanding and grace as we do what we feel is best to keep the Club moving forward and our members safe. I believe as we even move into the 2020/2021 season this fall it will not be like seasons past. There will hopefully be reduced restrictions, but we will have heightened protocols for gym, equipment and staff. This next chapter will be new to all involved in club volleyball and Fusion will learn and grow from each new challenged placed before us.

We will continue to share items weekly through our website video page and Facebook page. We encourage our athletes to use these posts in their daily and weekly training. Stay connected with your coach and team, post what your training on or workouts, reach out with your healthy recipes for our Facebook family to try, zoom your team to watch a movie virtually together, invite your team or the Fusion family to a challenge. The possibilities are endless. The big part is STAY CONNECTED, know that your Fusion family is missing you and we can’t wait to see you on the court again.

Again, we will send future beach, clinic and camp information out as it is finalized so that everyone has the information needed to sign up and participate.

If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out via email to me directly. I pray that each of you continue to stay safe and healthy.

God Bless
